Responding to the 4th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week and commemorating Earth Day on 22 April 2023, the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark orgainized workshops on waste recycling in collaboration with Gen Xanh Social Enterprise and Dak NongCommunity College.
The program has attracted 70 students from College classes of fashion sewing, tour guides, hotel management, and received more than 30 volunteers of Dak Nong Geopark. The waste of old clothes was reformed into different useful goods such as hair ties, bookmarks, and water bottle bags. The program also utilized local fruit to make a Kombucha drink which is helpful for digestion and health. Furthermore, the students also have a chance to gain basic knowledge about the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark through an interesting presetation along with mini-games. In the framework of the program, there was an exhibition of typical heritage of the Dak Nong Geopark.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh expressed her hope for the local young generations in demonstrating their responsibility in protecting and presenting the heritage values of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark out to the world, while also leading a green life for a sustainable future. She also believed that Dak Nong Community College and Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark would coorperate closely in the future.
In addition to renew the product life cycle, this activity contributes to reducing the quantity of trash released into the environment. This also helps to validating Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark’s commitment to sustainable development via public education.
