On the morning of May 11th, Management Body Dak Nong Geopark organized a Partner Meeting in Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark region at Enjoy Coffee (Gia Nghia City) – the official partner of DNUGGp.
The program was attended by Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh – Provincial Commissioner, Vice Chairwoman of Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee, leaders/representatives of People’s Committees of districts and cities in DNUGGp and more than 50 production and business units in the province.
The “Partner Meeting” event was first held at the end of 2018. The construction and development of the Geopark partner network is aimed at attracting local businesses to participate in the sustainable supply chain, creating specific products in the Geopark, enhancing local products with the brand “Global Geopark”. At that time, Dak Nong Geopark was not officially recognized as a Global Geopark, so tourism activities were still limited, businesses did not understand the development model of the Geopark. Therefore, the partner network of Geopark has not developed as strongly as expected.
By 2020, Dak Nong Geopark will be officially recognized as a global geopark, which raised the province’s position, especially attracting the attention of businesses tourism. But the Covid-19 pandemic lasts until 2022, which has halted tourism activities, thereby also disrupted the development of the Geopark’s partner network. Today’s Partner Meeting is a reboot for partners to have the basis, faith and orientation to participate in the partnership system of DNUGGp.
At the beginning of 2023, when the economic situation grows again, tourism activities are strongly restored, the demand for providing products and services is increasing. In addition, there is a re-evaluation of the Global Geopark title by UNESCO experts, promising to create potentials for service and tourism development of Dak Nong province in the near future.
At the meeting, local organizations, individuals and businesses had passionately sharing so that get truly accompany and benefit from DNUGGp’s development activities. Since then, creating confidence and motivation for the authorities and people of Dak Nong province together to preserve the UNESCO Global Geopark title through the re-evaluation.
