32 Ta Dung lake panorama

Ta Dung National Park is bounded by Dak Nong province and Di Linh highland (Lam Dong Province) which contains rich flora and fauna of the region. This is also the gateway to the East of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark with Ta Dung mountain peak of 1,982m above sea level. Right at the mountain foot is Ta Dung Lake with an area of more than 3,500 ha, containing 37 small islands.

Ta Dung Lake has also played an important role as a fresh water resource for downstream areas. This place previously was also a long-standing homeland of Ma indigenous people.

In 2004 when the Dong Nai hydroelectricity dam construction project began, all Ma villagers had to move to new higher places around the mountain. In 2012, when the construction finished, Ta Dung Lake was formed and became an amazing habitat for many kinds of animals, including some endemic birds such as: Polyplection germaini (Germain’s Peacock-pleasant) and Garrulax milleti (Black-hooded Laughingthrush). Since then, Ma people have had a key role in protecting the forests.

Ta Dung Lake is most beautiful in the rainy season (from August to December). Especially when standing high above to watch the panoramic view here, visitors will be surprised by the charming scenery of landscape. The fresh air blending with Ta Dung’s landscape will enable tourists to reconnect to the Mother Nature.

With favorable climate, it becomes an ideal destination for visitors and is considered “The Ha Long Bay of the Central Highlands”.
