Celebrating the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2021

Dak Nong Geopark is a territory rich in traditional culture of 40 ethnic minorities. Among of them, M’nong, Ma and Ede are the indigenous peoples. Their valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritage, especially their unique flows of folklore throughout from the past to the present and towards the future, is an outstanding symbol of the local ethnic communities’ lives.

In order to celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2021, after many online and offline meetings with locals, Dak Nong Geopark has compiled and published a book named: “Tale of Nam Blang”, which presents a number of interesting legends related to the geopark’s heritage sites.

As each site has its own historical and cultural origin, this publication purposely works as means of transferring the diverse indigenous knowledge and belief as well as enhancing their sense of belonging. Thus, it will not be only a useful document for reference but also a small meaningful gift to get visitors closer to Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark.
