On October 20, 2021, there was a meeting of the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark Management Board. Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Director of Dak Nong UGGp Management Board chaired the meeting with the participation of deputy directors, full-time and part-time members, related departments and localities within the Geopark area.
At the meeting, Ms. Le Thi Hong An, Deputy Director of the Dak Nong UGGp Management Board, reported the progress of implementing tasks in the 2021 Action Program. Despite the surge of Covid-19 pandemic, 2021 missions have been carried out well, such as: 5 infrastructure investment projects, Geopark educating through online contests, networking… However, since the UNESCO Global Geopark designation, the prolonged pandemic has prevented the tourism industry of the province from thriving.
Representatives of related departments and localities also discussed about difficulties and obstacles in the Action plan implementation process and proposed some solutions to overcome in the upcoming time.
“With a very dynamic domestic tourism market, we are seeing positive signs of our geopark’s tourism rebound after the pandemic, thus, we need to well prepare for such demand for internal travel while maintaining rigorous health and safety standards” concluded the meeting by Ms. Hanh.
