The 1st UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARKS YOUTH FORUM, which will be held in Jeju Island during the 9th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks in December 2021, is a new ongoing important initiative for young people to get engaged more concretely into the UNESCO Global Geoparks’ activities to realize a future of sustainable development.
According to an announcement from the Global Geoparks Network (GGN), the Vietnam National Geoparks Network (VnNGN) requires each geopark (Dak Nong, Non Nuoc Cao Bang, Ha Giang) to nominate one delegate, aged from 18 to 24, showing their engagement with UNESCO Global Geoparks and being able to speak English well. Then, VnNGN will select and nominate the finally one representative to participate in this important GGN’s event.
For Dak Nong, based on the results of the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark insight English-speaking contest and GGN criteria, the Education and Training Department has proposed a list of 3 first-prized students, including: Nguyen Khanh Ly, Nguyen Bui Thao Nhu and Le Thi Thuy Hao. Currently, they are in grade 11 of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted.
On that basis, the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geoparks Management Board will conduct an interview to select the most suitable representative to nominate to the national network.
It is expected that a contest will be hed by the VnNGN in September 2021 to select the most outstanding delegate, representing the Vietnam National Geoparks Network to participate in the 1st upcoming UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum.
