The 6th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network(APGN) symposium was held from September 3rd-6th 2019 in Rinjani-Lombok UNESCO Global Geopark, Indonesia with the participation of Asia-Pacific UNESCO Global Geoparks, National Geoparks from Indonesia and Asia-Pacific countries. This Symposium was organized by local government of West Nusa Tenggara Province.
The theme of the 6th APGN was focused on “UNESCO Global Geoparks Contributing for Sustaining Local Communities and Reducing Geohazard Risk”; 5 related sub-topics including: (1) Empowering local socio-economic sustainable development; (2) Engaging Communities, geohazard risk and recovery; (3) Popularizing scientific knowledge for public education; (4) Promoting aspiring global geoparks & (5) Networking volcanic landscape global geoparks.

Attending the conference, the delegation of Dak Nong province, led by Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh – Vice Chairwoman of the province, Director of the Geopark presented and introduced about Dak Nong Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark – The Land of Sounds and participated in the exhibition activity of the Geoparks Fair.

Participates from Asia-Pacific countries had chances to get together to share knowledges about the natural heritage and mitigation of geohazard through creative and active engagement, especially through the field trips around Rinjani UGGp.

Through the conference, the delegation of Dak Nong province completed the multi-objectives of geopark related experience exchange as well as promoting the image of Dak Nong Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark to friends in the Asia-Pacific region.
