The 8th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks took place in the Adamello Brenta UNESCO Global Geopark, Trentino Province, Italy, from 11th to 14th September 2018. It attracted more than 1,200 delegates from 5 continents around the world.
The delegation of Dak Nong Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark, led by Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh – Vice Chairwoman of the province, Director of the Geopark, also attended this conference.
With the main theme “Geoparks and Sustainable Development”, the conference gave opportunities to all participants to share their experiences, create network and exchange the best practices applied in their territories. Also, a set of social and cultural events were held during the Conference, with the opportunity for all delegates to get in contact with the local people and their traditions.
Dak Nong Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark also utilize this chance to introduce its featured characteristics to international friends.
In particular, during this mission, the provincial officials also learned a lot of valuable experiences in the development of a geopark according to the criteria of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network.
Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark of Vietnam also received good news about the 2018 revalidation results in this conference.
