On the morning of February 28, 2023 the National Committee of UNESCO Vietnam held the 2022 Operational summit to review the activities in 2022 and give the direction for 2023.
The conference was attended by representatives of ministries, sectors, sub-committees of the Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO and the leaders of relevant localities. Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc, Deputy Foreign Minister, Chairman of Natcom, presided over the conference.
Ms. Tôn Thị Ngọc Hạnh – Vice Chairwoman of the Dak Nong People’s Committee and Director of Dak Nong Geopark Management Board spoke and thanked the ministries, industries, the UNESCO National Committee of Vietnam, the expert subcommittees who accompanied and supported the local community in the process of building and developing the geopark. In particular, in the past year, Dak Nong successfully hosted the 20th International Symposium on Vulcanospeleology and Symposium on “15 years of geopark development in Vietnam” – one of the 10 highlight events of the National Natural Resource and Environmental Industry in 2022.
The Dak Nong leader also suggested that Vietnam Natcom should prepare a Vietnamese version on the guidelines of UNESCO Global Geopark to serve as a reference base for locals who wish to build this noble model in the upcoming time.
