On the afternoon of June 26, the UNESCO expert team went to Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark to survey and revaluate the title of DNUGGp for the first time.
In 2023, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark will be revalidated according to the regulations of the Global Geoparks Network. This is the honor of Dak Nong province after a long time striving to maintain the title.
Attending the meeting, the UNESCO expert team include Mr. Jianping Zhang – Vice Chairman of IUGS International Committee on Geoheritage; Vice Chairman of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council and Mr. Marekazu Ohno – Member of the Geoparks Subcommittee, Japan National Committee for UNESCO. Besides, Dak Nong province invites:
– Mr. Trinh Hai Son – Director of the Vietnam Institute of Science, Geology and Minerals, Head of the Vietnam Geoparks Subcommittee (Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO);
– Mr. Tran Tan Van – Senior Specialist of Global Geopark Network;
– Ms. Do Thi Yen Ngoc – Director of Center for Karst and Geoheritage (Institute of Geosciences and Minerals).
Welcoming the experts were Mr. Ho Van Muoi – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Dak Nong People’s Committee; Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh – Provincial Commissioner, Vice Chairman of the Dak Nong People’s Committee, Director of Dak Nong Geopark Management Board and other leaders of departments, branches, localities and reporters of press agencies.
At the meeting, the Dak Nong Geopark Management Board reported to the experts the self-assessment of the results of operation, development and orientation of DNUGGp in the future; speech of the consultants group presented by Mr. Tran Tan Van.
The experts also openly share the purpose and meaning of the revalidation to develop together.
Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee greeted the experts at the meeting.
